“Hotty Toddy!” We can all hear Stratton yelling it right now. His voice, so contagious and vibrant, echoed across every room he entered. His face, so jolly and appealing, made you want to give him a big bear hug. His hugs, so welcoming and powerful, made you want to not let go. His personality, so charismatic and encouraging, pulled everyone he encountered towards him. His loyalty, to his friends and Pi Kappa Alpha, made you feel special. His confidence, so obvious and sometimes detrimental, made you feel safe when you were with him. His laugh, oh God his laugh, so perfect and infectious. His walk, always on his toes with his chest out, waddling around like a penguin. His love, especially for his family, was obvious and commendable. Stratton passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2016. This love brings us to the purpose of this message, as he loved his beautiful sister, Grayson, so much.
Grayson will be attending Ole Miss in the fall of 2016. She is a high school graduate of Nashville Christian School, as was Stratton. Although she previously planned to attend Western Kentucky University, in memory of Stratton, she is now going to attend Ole Miss! “Hotty Toddy!” We can all hear Stratton yelling it again. Stratton adored, protected, and loved his sister more than anything in this world.
In his memory, we are raising money for the Stratton Jones Scholarship that will provide financial support for Grayson to attend Ole Miss! This, more than anything I can think of, will make Stratton proud and grateful.
Here you see the last letter Stratton wrote Grayson, shortly before her high school graduation. Let’s help her “LIVE it up.”
