Strangulation Day: A Livestream Theatre Production
Donation protected
As part of Rhinofest 2023 we're putting on "Strangulation Day: A Livestream Theatre Production" based on the 1948 screenplay for "Rope", written by Hume Cronyn and Arthur Laurents that was directed by Alfred Hitchcock, which was intended to be filmed in one take.
Inspired by the 1924 Chicago murderers Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, two university students try to commit the perfect crime by strangling their colleague to death, then put the body in a chest while they have a dinner party full of unsuspecting guests.
We intend to use this format as a proof-of-concept to produce other plays and scripts to combine the visual language of film with the immediacy of live theatre.
Dates: Sat 6/17th at 9:00 CST and Sun 6/18th at 7:00 CST.
Venue: Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL, 60624.
