Stranded is a Survival Sci-fi Drama about a conflicted settler who must fight for survival after crash landing on an alien moon while trying to secure a fresh start for his family in a new solar system.
This Sci-fi Survival Short will blend stunning visuals with an emotional story. Using the staggering New Mexico landscape as our inspiration for an alien world, we hope to take you with us on this adventure to another world. Alone on a barren moon, how do you escape?
Like with most aspects of life, the pandemic has faced us with many challenges both as students and filmmakers— but with your help we can ensure both a compelling film and safe shooting environment for our cast and crew.
The money raised will go towards taking necessary COVID measures to ensure both the cast's and crew's well being, as well as equipment, makeup and costume, set locations, props, etc.
We acknowledge these are hard times for everyone, which makes us all the more grateful for any support you can put toward this film, even if it's just a share of our campaign. To show our appreciation, we have also created a set of tier awards found below you can receive as a token of our gratitude.

Alec Arruti - Director / Producer
Alec Arruti is an enthusiastic Director, Editor, and Visual Effects Artist. Alec is a filmmaker studying all aspects of movie magic, from onset camera experience to postproduction techniques. He enjoys the blend of stunning visuals and an extremely diverse narrative. He hopes to one day open a film studio that can provide professional film assets and techniques, allowing filmmakers from around the world to create the “Movie Look” without the “Movie Cost”.
Mauricio Herrera - Director of Photography
Mauricio Herrera is a senior film student in the FDMA program at UNM. His studies have focused heavily around cinematography and sound production. Intending to one day work in the automotive video-journalism industry, he has applied a hyper-focus to automotive video work. He enjoys the dynamic fast-paced nature of filming with cars, and the technical challenges that come along with it. Apart from cinematography and sound work, Mauricio enjoys building camera rigs from scratch, restoring vintage cars, and playing classical guitar.
Alex Jack - Sound Recording
Alex Jack is a 31-year-old writer/director from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is currently finishing his Bachelor of Fine Art’s degree with a focus on film writing and directing at UNM. Alex has worked on a few student films in the past where he has written and directed several short films. He also has an interest and hobby in sound recording and design. He hopes to become a director of sci-fi movies or television.
Curtis Jayy - 1st Assistant Director
Curtis is a senior FDMA student looking to get his foot in the door of the film industry. His main passions are screenwriting and directing, but he also enjoys cinematography and post-production editing.
Emille Domschot – Unit Production Manager
Emille is a visual artist, photographer, and storyteller from Socorro, NM. She is currently a senior majoring in Film & Digital Arts, and her ambition is to run an independent film production company based in New Mexico. She has experience working in various roles on small scale productions, and she is happiest when taking part in the creative process, managing logistical details, or running a camera.
Felina Martinez - Art Director
Felina Martinez is a multimedia artist/storyteller based in Albuquerque, NM. Currently a senior, Felina is pursuing a BFA in film production at the University of New Mexico. Passionate about many aspects of filmmaking, Felina has most recently found interest applying her skills and eye for aesthetics to production design and art direction.
Brittany Francisco - Storyboard Artist
Brittany Francisco is a 24-year-old artist, storyboard artist and script supervisor in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Brittany is also a marketing assistant for UNM Foundation. In the past few years, Brittany has worked on a tv pilot and has sold artwork online.

Zain Walker - Playing the role of "Mike"
Zain hails from Dallas, Texas but is now proud to call Albuquerque his home. As a child, he worked as a commercial actor and print model. He made his premier on stage in high school where he began his theater arts education and made his theatrical debut with his first role as as Orin Scrivello D.D.S. from his favorite musical Little Shop of Horrors.
Zain continued his study of theater at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Theater and Political Science. During his time at Brandeis, he participated in various theatrical productions as well as several student films. While living here in Albuquerque, Zain has participated in independent films and new media projects, student productions, as well as several training classes.
When off-camera and stage, Zain enjoys hiking and camping in the beautiful New Mexico scenery, attending concerts of his favorite musical artists, and seeing new movies and theatrical productions.
Colyn Morris - Playing the role of "Jenna"
Colyn Morris is a 22 year old actress currently pursuing a BA in Psychology with a double minor in Theatre and Criminology at the University of New Mexico. She has been acting since she was 13 years old, and dreams of making it her full-time career. She has trained at Northern Arizona University, Vancouver Film School, Sol Acting Studios, and with private instructors. Some of her favorite credits include Mae in Mud by Maria Irene Fornes, Claire in Proof by David Auburn, and Fairy Mae in The Curious Savage by John Patrick .
Tess Arruti - Playing the role of "Madison"
Tess is 15 years old and a freshman in highschool. She enjoys singing, acting and painting. She is in choir at school along with show choir. Tess has played Brigitta in the sound of music along with being a part of the ensemble in Alice in Wonderland.
