Hello.

My name is Melissa and I live full-time in a camper. I was on my way to UT to be with an amazing friend who has conquered in an epic life battle, when my 2011 Nissan Titan truck started spewing fluid out from underneath. It turns out that the seals on my differentials failed. The damage to the rear end is severe, needing all new gears as well as a new differential, etc. The front differential is also leaking badly, needing repair. The rear brakes are also failing. The estimate for the repairs is just shy of $6100. The truck required 2 separate tows totaling more than $300.

I am 57 years old and have worked hard my entire life. I believe in both hard work and giving back to the universe, whatever form that may take. Two years ago I had a double spinal collapse. While I am able to walk again, my body is not the strong machine I have always relied upon. The fallout from this physical challenge has been profound. I lost my career, home, marriage, sense of self, and income. I have been told that if I want to do it, to do it now. Another spinal collapse is imminent. This one, doctors predict, will likely leave me paralyzed from the waist down.

I am currently on a $1000/mo. I spent $3100 last month on the truck repairs and almost $1000 the month before. This current bill is more than I can absorb.

With all of this, I am still grateful. I am grateful for the love of my beautiful dog who makes my life sweet, always. I am grateful for my friends. I am grateful that lemons make such delicious lemonade. I  no longer have my life in a tiny cabin at the very tippy-top of a mountain. My life has drastically changed. However, I love my tiny camper and my old truck. They are mine and I am grateful. It is my great fortune to be able to travel to where I am needed, in one way or another. It is what drives me, quite literally.
