Our family is stranded in Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa!
What was meant to be a week of love, laughter, and celebration has turned into a heartbreaking fight for survival.
Shawana and Marcus Blackston traveled to Jamaica with 28 of their closest family members and friends, including children, to renew their wedding vows and celebrate their love story. It was supposed to be a joyful getaway, a beautiful moment to honor their marriage surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.
Then hurricane Melissa hit. ️
In an instant, paradise turned into chaos. The storm ripped through the island, knocking out electricity, flooding roads, and shutting down airports. They’ve been stranded since Saturday. Unable to leave, with little food, no power, and no idea when it will be safe to return home.
The hotel where they were staying was badly damaged. Most of their rooms are unlivable, ceilings leaking, floors flooded.
To make matters worse, the hotel is still charging them daily just to remain on the property. Their savings are running out. They’re tired, scared, and holding onto faith that help will come soon.
This GoFundMe is being created to help cover:
• Emergency food, water, and basic necessities
• Hotel costs while they remain stranded
• Flights and transportation once it’s safe to travel
• Lost wages and recovery expenses once they return home
They went to Jamaica to celebrate love — not to face hardship and uncertainty.
Right now, they need our prayers, our compassion, and our support. Every dollar, every share, every word of encouragement makes a difference.
Please help bring my our niece Shawana, Marcus, and their loved ones home safely.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity.
