Greetings!

I am in a bit of a situation. I’ve been stuck, homeless, in the Dubai airport for the past month with no way to get home. Due to a series of setbacks, I found myself in this unbelievable situation that I just can’t seem to get out of. I wasn’t allowed to get on my flight which was on Jan 12, and that started the domino effect of chaos. I had a ticket to another country and they changed their entry requirements, which I no longer met. So I couldn’t finish checking in and had to cancel the flight. Since it was during check in, I wasn’t able to get my full refund either. Around a day or two later, I lost my source of income and am not able to start a new one due to my current physical location; even applying for work here! The craziness!

I am just trying to get back to the States as well as eat while I wait. As you know, the cost of food in the airport is not the best and I don’t have the money to stay in a hotel or room here either. So, I’ve been on the floor and chairs. Sometimes being harassed by the cleaning people who say I am not allowed to sleep there, even though there are others sleeping a few feet next to me. But that is another story for another time. Of course, and as you can imagine, I haven’t had the opportunity to shower either, so yeah, my mental state has finally hit a wall. That part may have been TMI, but it’s part of my experience this past month.

Ultimately, I am raising money to get a flight home and have money for food while I wait.
