Looking for a bit of a life line, anything helps My boyfriend and I have been stranded in the Muskegon area since Sunday night after attempting to travel home from electric forest. We were traveling home when our engine began to overheat and were forced to find somewhere to stay for the night. The only available room we could find was at lake land inn in Whitehall for $111, we were desperate and did not read the reviews until after seeing the condition of the room, ( no pillow cases, dirty sheets, multiple different types of bugs, hair in sink, dirty rags in shower, smells of mildew etc.). Once waking up on Monday we called 15+ automotive repair places until finding a first come first serve shop in Muskegon. We dropped the car off around 11 and walked to a nearby park after they said it’d be about an hour. We didn’t hear back from them until 5 pm to hear that they had not been able to start on the car, leaving us stranded for the night. Luckily we found an air b&b about a 30 minute walk away for another $100. Now today on Tuesday, after checking out of our air b&b at 10 am, we walked around until hearing from the repair shop at 2:30. They found that it is a head gasket issue and is unrepairable due to the cost being more than the cars worth. They did what they could in hopes for us to get home to Lansing and sell/scrap the car later. They said it should be fine as long as we stop once the thermostat gets 3/4 of the way to overheating. How ever once we started our journey, it is only taking 5 minutes until overheating. We have been doing our best to stay positive but are exhausted and have not been home for a week now. We are still an hour and a half away from home and feels like we are getting no where. As of right now, a tow truck is estimating at $500 and If we make our way closer to Grand Rapids. We have less than $200 to our names. We also have rent due soon, amongst other missed misc bills and are doing our best to not feel very hopeless. We are searching for any bit of support, even emotional in this shitty situation. Thank you to anyone taking the time to read.
