Storms Don’t Scare Vikings: James’ Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Since January, our strong two-year-old son, James, has been facing an immense battle. What began as an H. influenzae infection led to the discovery of an abscess in his left lung. He bravely endured multiple rounds of antibiotics and a chest tube placement. We had hoped this marked the end of his illness.
However, during his six week follow-up scan to check the status of his abscess they found that not only did the growth in his left upper lung grow larger but did not present with any fluid. Thanks to the dedicated surgical team at Dayton Children's, a biopsy was performed to uncover the cause. To our heartbreak, James was diagnosed with a rare lung sarcoma. This diagnosis comes with the reality that James will have to endure chemotherapy and another surgery for the best outcome. This will be a tough 36 weeks ahead of him.
Despite this difficult news, we remain incredibly grateful that his cancer has not spread to other tissues. James is a tough, young Viking, and we are holding onto hope as we navigate the road ahead.
We humbly ask for your support during this challenging time, as medical expenses and financial burdens begin to build. Your kindness, prayers, and generosity mean the world to us. Please keep James in your thoughts, and may God bless each of you for walking alongside us in this journey.
