On July 17th, 2017, Storm was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Children's Hospital at UVM Medical Center.
The prognosis is very good. This is a treatable cancer that was caught very early, and treatment began immediately. As of early this past May, with inspiring courage and grace, Storm completed the initial phase of a grueling treatment protocol.
Storm is now in the Long Term Maintenance stage of treatment which is expected to end on October 26, 2020.
Cancer is one of the most expensive medical conditions to treat. Aside from the cost of medication and hospitalization, the financial burden is compounded by the many inherent disruptions to work caused by scheduled and unexpected interventions. Due to complications associated with treatment, Storm was hospitalized multiple times over the course of the past year.
Many thanks to those of you who generously contributed in our first phase of fundraising on the YouCaring site, which has just transitioned to GoFundMe. We are re-launching the campaign with this move which coincides with the anniversary of Storm's diagnosis.
