Storm is lost - Help him reunite with his family

Donation protected

My name is Jennifer and like many other dog owners, my dog is a huge part of my life. Storm has been with our family since October 22, 2016 and has helped me cope with some of the most difficult parts of my life including my mother's diagnosis with and eventual passing from pancreatic cancer as well as my 3+ year journey with infertility. He has been my best friend, a constant, and we've been strongly bonded since he came home with us.

Unfortunately, on August 28, 2021 Storm was let out of a well-fenced in, secure backyard when someone left the gate unlatched/open. He was then chased by well meaning friends for 4 miles before he was lost. This happened 9 days after I had an unplanned c-section for the birth of our first child, our miracle baby. I was not there the night Storm went missing. My husband called me in a panic and my father-in-law had to drive me ~30-45 minutes down to the area where Storm got lost. My feet were so swollen I couldn't even wear my regular shoes.

Despite all of the effort, time, and money we have spent in the last ~1.5 months, we still have not found Storm. We have made hundreds of posters and flyers, spent time setting up/baiting a humane trap, organizing searches, etc. My husband spent his entire month of paternity leave looking for our dog and was unable to enjoy time with his new child. We don't sleep in this household anymore. When I'm not with the baby, I am tirelessly working on emailing, calling, organizing Storm recovery efforts.

It was hard enough the first 9 days to learn how to adjust to parenthood, but the stress and anxiety of losing our best friend has exacerbated the strain on our mental/physical well-being. While we have had the support of the community, many folks from out of the state have expressed their desire to help us financially as we continue to do anything and everything to reunite with Storm.

We plan to use these funds to help with Storm recovery efforts including, but not limited to:

  • Creation/maintenance of Storm Flyers/Posters - replacing old/worn signage or adding new posters
  • Possible billboard/digital ad space rentals
  • Addition to Storm's reward pot, if needed

We are in it for the long-haul. When we brought Storm home to be a part of our family we meant he was our family. We will never give up on finding him. He is depending on us to find him. We know he wants to come home, but he needs our help.

We are so grateful already to the community that has come to our aid and helped us. It has truly made an awful, journey feel a bit less lonely. It warms our heart that Storm has a special place in all of your hearts as well. Let's bring our boy home!
