Stop the rezoning at Point Effingham!

Your Protect The Tamar team needs help!

We are a group of Tasmanian residents opposing the rezoning of Rural Resource land to Industrial and Crown Land to Port & Marine on kanamaluka/Tamar Estuary. We need your help to raise funds for legal representation in this matter.

The rezoning application, brought by George Town Council, is before the Tasmanian Planning Commission. We seek to engage a lawyer to represent us at the Commission's hearing, date to be announced.

If this rezoning is successful it opens the door for industrial development to occur on land outside the existing 2500 hectare area of the Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone.

We are not anti development, but strongly believe that industrial projects must be situated with the BBAMZ rather than taking land & marine areas not previously zoned for this purpose.

kanamaluka is Tasmania's only mesotidal drowned river valley & home to 153 threatened animal species. If we do not act to oppose this rezoning, industry will spread along kanamaluka / Tamar Estuary like a cancer.

Legal representation is expensive, but with community support we can fight this rezoning proposal and Protect the Tamar!
