Stop the Bleed Eagle Project - Alden Looft
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Alden Looft, and I'm a 17-year-old prospective Eagle Scout.
Trauma is the number one cause of death in Americans under the age of 44. One of the most lethal components of trauma is hemorrhage, or uncontrolled bleeding. The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) developed a bleeding control curriculum called Stop the Bleed. Stop the Bleed is a program that can be applied to laypeople (such as high school students and teachers) which teaches lifesaving bleeding control skills.
My Eagle project, a required step for advancement, creates a new Stop the Bleed program at my high school, Champlain Valley Union (CVU). The class would be held once a semester and be free to attend. This Stop the Bleed program would be supplemented with the placement of Stop the Bleed public bleeding control kits that would be placed next to the existing Automated External Defibrillator (AED) stations in the building.
While the class is free, everything comes at a price, especially lifesaving equipment. In order to hold these events and mount these kits in the building, I'm asking for your support. It is vital for the survival of my project for at least $2500 to be raised, as two of the kits seen below have to be purchased in order to be mounted inside the school, plus factoring in taxes or other fees. Two plaques also need to be purchased, as well as event materials such as refreshments or educational pamphlets.
As a perk for supporters, a plaque will be dedicated to all supporters next to each kit, for a total of 2. When donating, please provide the name you would like added to the plaque. A limit of 40 names is enforced in keeping with plaque size and price limitations, and supporters who donate more will take priority.
Any excess donations will be donated directly to the Stop the Bleed organization in all supporters' names.
Please share this page with friends and family in order to spread the word.
Thank you for your time and your support.
