Sponsor a sterilization, save lives, and stop 1000s more dogs from suffering here in Guatemala.
The street dog crisis across Guatemala is heartbreaking. And in reaction to this, Stray To Stay set out to rescue and rehome as many dogs as we could because every stray deserves a forever stay. In 18 months, we found loving homes for over 30 dogs (including 7 adopted overseas), sterilized more than 45, and rehabilitated 7 with broken or dislocated legs. We’ve done this all with love, grassroots support, and an unwavering belief that every dog deserves a chance.
But as the number of street dogs continues to rise, it’s time to put all of our efforts into addressing the root cause of the problem: uncontrolled reproduction.
If we want to stop the suffering, we need to stop the cycle. That means sterilizing (spaying and neutering) and releasing, before more puppies are born into lives of hunger, injury, disease, and fear.
One un-sterilized female dog and her male partner can result in 67,000 more dogs in just six years.
So sterilizing just one dog, will make a huge difference to the problem.
This fundraiser is dedicated solely to the sterilization of street dogs in Panajachel, Guatemala, and every dollar raised will go towards this cause.
Sterilizing and neutering can cost between $40 - $70 for the surgery, medication and aftercare.
By raising $2100, we are hoping to sterilize at least 30 dogs by the end of 2025.
Thank you for supporting us on this journey. It wouldn’t be possible without your help.
