An out-of-town, out-of-state corporate developer has proposed the construction of one of the largest industrial power plants in the state be built on 187-acres on top of our town and neighborhood. We stand in firm opposition to this proposal.
The development of this project will:
- devastate wildlife
- destroy prime agricultural land
- harm local businesses
- devastate neighboring home values
- pollute our water with chemicals and runoff
- require unwanted "modernization" to our country roads
- create NO local jobs
- provide NO local power
Stop Shaftsbury Solar is a coalition of town residents, neighbors to the proposed development site, and people from around the region who care about stopping the takeover of farmland by out-of-state corporate developers. This is a large and long-term undertaking and we need your help.
We will use any funds donated to:
- hire the lawyers we need;
- to spread the word about the molestation of our hill for corporate profit;
- to organize a strong and long-term resistance effort;
- and to preserve the land for the benefit of the neighbors, wildlife, environment, and future generations.
None of these funds will land in personal pockets. 100% of funds donated will go directly toward the effort to protect our town from the destruction of our natural resources and rural way of life for urban corporate profiteering.
