The NO Quarry On Homestead Rd group is dedicated to raising awareness of a massive 1600 acre ROCK QUARRY & ASPHALT/CONCRETE facility being proposed by The Heritage Group (subsidiary of US Aggregates) of Indy on Homestead Rd immediately south of Jefferson Blvd- right next to the new IU Health hospital campus, SACS Lafayette Meadows Elementary & Little River Wetlands Project.
Heritage Group of Indy wants to create an industrial nightmare for SW Allen residents by rezoning decades old family farms to INTENSE INDUSTRIAL with special usage. This will directly impact property owners with private water wells, geothermal HVAC, decreased home values, structural damage to basements/founations/pools. More importantly the health concerns due to heavy construction pollution, constant noise from explosive blasting, poor air quality from dust, and industrial asphalt contaminents are overwhelming. Especially for our K-5 students who attend SACS Lafayette Meadows and patients at IU Health Hospital campus.
It's also smack in the middle of Little River Wetlands floodplain, directly adjacent to the protected Little River Wetlands Project that has been successfully restored over the past 20+
Years—threatening Endangered Species of animals and plants, including our Bald Eagle population that has been revived due to arduous conservation efforts. Our water table, natural aquafiers, and wildlife wetlands will ultimately pay the price should this highly incompatible project be approved by Allen County DPS.
All funds from this crowdfunding effort will be used to cover billboard and yard signage costs, and potential legal fees should we need to retain an attorney on our behalf.
