Help Launch the Fraser River Cleanup Vessel
Every year, large amounts of plastic waste, abandoned fishing gear, and other debris travel down the Fraser River and flow into the Salish Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
This pollution harms marine life, damages salmon habitat, and spreads along British Columbia’s coastline.
Our goal is simple:
Stop that pollution before it reaches the ocean.
Pacific Waters Foundation is a new nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting British Columbia’s rivers and coastal waters through professional cleanup operations and environmental stewardship.
We are launching the Fraser River Debris Interception Program, an initiative focused on removing debris from the Fraser River before it spreads across coastal ecosystems.
To make this possible, we need a dedicated aluminum cleanup vessel capable of safely collecting debris directly from the water.
We are raising $70,000 to purchase and deploy this cleanup vessel, which will allow our team to:
• intercept floating debris in the Fraser River
• remove abandoned fishing gear and nets
• collect plastics before they reach the Pacific Ocean
• protect salmon habitat in the Fraser River delta
The Fraser River is the largest salmon river in Canada and one of the most important waterways on the west coast. Unfortunately, it is also a major pathway for pollution entering the ocean.
By removing debris at the mouth of the river, we can stop pollution before it spreads across beaches and coastal ecosystems.
Once the vessel is operational, we will launch the Fraser River Debris Interception Pilot Program, with a goal of removing hundreds of tonnes of debris from the river system each year.
This pilot program will also help us secure larger environmental grants and corporate partnerships so the program can expand in the future.
As a new nonprofit, your support will help us launch this initiative and begin protecting British Columbia’s waterways.
Every contribution helps.
Whether it’s $20 or $1,000, your support will help protect BC’s rivers, salmon, and coastline.
Together we can stop pollution before it reaches the Pacific Ocean.
Thank you for supporting the Pacific Waters Foundation.
