A Fresh Start: Help Me Stop Eviction and Begin Again

Hi friends,

This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. I’ve always tried to handle things on my own, but I’ve reached a point where I just can’t anymore.

After more than a year of unemployment and financial struggle, I’ve completely run out of money. I have no savings, no 401k, and I’m now on food stamps just trying to get by. On top of that, my own mother and immediate family have abandoned me, leaving me to face everything alone.

I’m now facing eviction and have to be in housing court on November 19th. Filing for bankruptcy before that date would stop the eviction and give me a real chance to start over.

But I can’t do it alone. I need $1,500 to hire a lawyer to help me file properly and protect my rights.

This is my last big hurdle before I can rebuild my life. My plan is to leave NYC as soon as bankruptcy is filed and start fresh somewhere new, on stable ground. But right now, I just need help getting through this moment.
