UCHS Needs Help - Stop Illegal Dumping
My name is Shaelyn and I am fundraising on behalf of the Upper Credit Humane Society. I've been in touch with them and Chair Pietras was thrilled at the opportunity to have external fundraising done. The UCHS receives no funding from the government and relies on the support of donors and volunteers to continue operating!
The Upper Credit Humane Society uses disposal dumpsters to supplement their donation income by collecting scrap metal and beer cans/bottles from the community, and when people illegally dump their personal garbage here it lowers the value of the scrap donation. As a member of the community and an animal lover I am incredibly disappointed in these incidents of illegal dumping. This behaviour from anyone is not acceptable and shouldn't be tolerated. I'm very upset that the burden of disposal is put on the UCHS organization, especially as a non-profit.
We are raising money to have a security camera installed facing the disposal bin(s) on site. I believe this will help deter illegal dumping, as well as add the ability to report people and their vehicles/license plates to the Town of Erin and By-Law enforcement.
Donations will fund:
- Installation,
- The camera,
- Cost of wire,
- NVR & hard drive, which will store the recordings,
- Interior monitor for the office,
- Outdoor sign: "PROPERTY UNDER VIDEO SURVEILLANCE".
Locals can also donate a tv/monitor directly, as long as it is HDMI compatible. Local security company Correct Fire & Security has offered to donate the equipment, and install the camera at a discounted rate. Any excess funds raised will go directly to the UCHS!
