Stop Blackburn Rovers FC building 170 new houses

The Brockhall Village and Old Langho Residents’ Action Group

We are raising money from the residents and friends of Brockhall Village and Old Langho to strongly oppose Blackburn Rovers Football Club (BRFC) in its plans to demolish the Senior Training Site at the entrance to Brockhall Village and sell off the land for 170 new houses to be built.

The funds will be used to hire a Highways Consultant and Planning Consultant to provide expert opinions for all stakeholders to fight this proposed development.

Despite Old Langho already being oversubscribed with its housing allocation according to the Ribble Valley Borough Council (RVBC) housing plans, BRFC are already consulting with RVBC on pre-planning considerations and are expected to submit 2 full planning applications soon:

1) To build new facilities at the junior training ground at the bottom of Franklin Hill (and thereby amalgamate the senior training facility with the junior training facility).

2) To build up to 170 new houses on the current senior training facility site.

This move would seriously affect us all in a number of ways ...

Increased traffic on the country lanes of Old Langho by the residents of the new 170 houses, impacting on road safety and leading to further queuing to join the A59.

Increased traffic through Brockhall village as seniors, away teams, spectators etc. access the new amalgamated training site – this route passes both the playground and the nursery.

Increased noise at the Franklin hill ground as it will be used by both Juniors and Seniors.

Increased number of non-residents coming onto Brockhall Village.

Potentially around 700 new residents in Old Langho needing places at GP surgeries, Dental surgeries and schools, which are already oversubscribed.

Potential drop in property value.

BRFC‘s claim that they intend to offer their facilities for the benefit of the children of Old Langho can only be seen as a ploy to get residents on board. After all, they have been on the site for over 25 years and in that whole time have not once opened their facilities to residents.

The Residents‘ Action Group is trying to stop these 2 developments but needs your support. Please take a few moments to donate to this worthwhile cause. Any donations (however small) will make a big difference to our fight.
