No Ethanol Fernandina

Hello, my name is Amy Deane. I am organizing this GoFundMe on behalf of No Ethanol Fernandina. All funds raised will be sent directly to our not-for-profit bank account. Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM), a giant corporation, intends to build an ethanol manufacturing plant in a densely populated urban area in Fernandina Beach, Florida on our tiny barrier island. Because bioethanol is a volatile organic compound (VOC), it is a potential danger to our community. A massive explosion or fire could result from a single spark or an accumulation of dust in the air of the plant or a minor human error. There are only two small bridges exiting the island; if we had to evacuate suddenly it would not be successful. There is an elementary school less than 1 mile away from the proposed ethanol manufacturing plant site. There is also a densely populated residential area and historic downtown area directly next to the site. Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM) is trying to get around our city's Comprehensive Plan which prohibits any new chemical production. We will use these funds to hire an attorney, court reporter and possibly experts as well as for other expenses associated with an administrative hearing or legal challenge including printing for awareness and communication.
