Hi, I'm Owen and I need to raise $4,000 by January 2nd to secure my education, buy a vehicle for transport to college and my work, and keep myself housed and fed.
- Rent is $400/month
- Car cost is about $3,000
- The remaining $600 will go towards food security and utilities for the lost months of work.
What happened:
In May this year, I lost my vehicle to flooding. Since then I was loaned a lender vehicle and attained work and the ability to study at my school at NCTC. Unfortunately, the loaned vehicle broke down and the costs for repair outweigh purchasing a new temporary vehicle. Without personal transport, the commute to school is very unsafe and I am unable to get to my work-study position at the campus out of town. Without work, I will be unable to keep myself housed and fed and am at risk of homelessness.
About Me:
I am a 21 year old queer disabled student at North Central Texas College. I am financially independent and rely on my own transport to keep myself afloat as both an employee and student at my school. Without community help, I will not be able to support myself in this situation without a vehicle. It is my hopes with the help of others in my community to raise enough to be able to provide myself transport and become stable once again to focus on my studies and work, as well as stay fed and housed this Winter.
