Dear Friends and Neighbors, the Holliston Planning Board is deciding whether to approve the construction of a massive 800,000+ sq. ft. distribution center warehouse (for an undisclosed occupant) in our town. The planning board approval will allow the developer to also store toxic and hazardous substances in a portion of the building.

This will drastically impact our small town with increased daily traffic- estimated to be anywhere from 1,300 to upwards of 7,000 additional vehicles travelling on our single lane roads, including huge tractor trailer trucks running 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year.
The 187-acre site is a wooded area dotted with wetlands and vernal pools. It is part of the Charles River Watershed with abundant wildlife, including species identified by the Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program. Old carriage paths, old stone walls, the town's cranberry bogs and a historic cemetery would all be threatened.
The size and scope of this project is way out of line with what was originally intended in the Master Plan for the town of Holliston. There are questions as to whether the land owner has submitted the proper paperwork to MA Department of Environmental Protection(DEP), On September 28, 2020, without Town permission, agents of the landowner, began illegally clear-cutting trees. Holliston had to issue a Cease-and Desist order to stop them. They again began cutting trees on October 5, and the Town had to arrange an emergency restraining order to finally halt the illicit tree cutting.
This decision, in the the hands of the Holliston Planning Board, is a Legacy Project- one that will affect life in Holliston for generations to come. As currently planned, it would threaten the town with clogged streets, increased air and noise pollution, more dangers on our roadways with rising costs for enforcement and maintenance, falling home values ,proposed toxic storage site to oversee, potential impacts to our water system, increased flooding due to huge impervious surface, and the devastation of an area now filled with a biodiversity of trees, plants and animals.
We are a grassroots group of concerned residents who have come together to protect our town and its residents against a development that is destructive to our way of life and our environment. As part of our research on similar e-commerce struggles in residential areas, and with feedback from our community, we have seen an increasing call to consult a lawyer. The money raised in this fundraiser will go towards our legal and outreach expenses.
If we don't meet our fundraising goal, you will be refunded.
Accounting ledgers will be available to all contributors upon request.
Thank you for donating whatever you can. Together we can take this on!
