Stones of Honor - Giving Unmarked Graves a Loving Tribute

Today, I’m reaching out with a deeply heartfelt request. As some of you may know, I lost my infant daughter a little over 24 years ago. Her loss was devastating. After her funeral it took me several years to purchase her a headstone. The area where she’s buried has several plots that are unmarked. I hated seeing those babies without anything to identify them. I consider them to be Zoe’s friends. A couple years ago I suggested we buy a headstone for the baby right next to Zoe. The only thing I’ve ever seen on that plot is a small metal sign and that blew away years ago. For the last two years Scott and I have purchased one stone each year for babies near Zoe. Because the graveyard was mismanaged in the past the baby area is very disorganized. They don’t have information on some of the plots. They haven’t been able to provide me with all the information of other infants who are around Zoe. So I decided to go to Facebook and post something on a mom‘s group. Asking if anyone had family or friends that were buried in the infant area of Hillcrest Cemetery. I had a few people reach out to me who were interested in assistance getting their baby a headstone. I have five names so far. Plus the cemetery gave me five names, but they didn’t have all the information listed. Scott and I are working to raise funds for as many headstone as we can. To honor Zoe we’re putting $500 of our money into the funds. If we’re unable to raise more money then we will randomly pick 2 babies to purchase for this year and the others will have to wait until next year.

The stones are a small simple gray granite (16x8x3), weighing about 37 pounds. Each stone costs $199, with free shipping, and we can get them at a wholesale price of $188.09 if we order five or more.
