Stone Mountain Action Coalition Annual Support

What began as a grassroots effort in the summer of 2020 has grown into a national movement to transform Stone Mountain Park from the world’s largest Confederate memorial and shrine to white supremacy, into a place for ALL visitors to enjoy.

 

The Stone Mountain Action Coalition (SMAC) now represents more than 5,000 supporters, a partnership network of local, state and national advocacy organizations working towards this common goal. The organization was referenced in the Park’s recent RFP for a new management company and we have become a go-to source for the local and national media covering this ongoing issue (and featured in more than 70 major news articles and segments !).

 

While our grassroots group has operated as a lean, self-funded and volunteer-led group, we continue to incur costs associated with our website, email and social media marketing software, and supplies for community events (signage, printing, etc.). Based on our expenses this past year, we have budgeted $4,000 for this coming year and are looking for external support to raise funds as we strengthen and scale our efforts.

As a grassroots group, our work is only as successful as our supporters who have helped take action throughout this past year. Whether by making calls and sending emails, sharing posts on social media -- your support has helped keep the pressure on the Park and its stakeholders to make long overdue and needed changes and it’s working!
