Stoll Family Medical Expenses

Donation protected
On January 26th, 2001, my wife Jill Stoll and our daughter Sarah Gray Stoll, was involved in an auto accident.  Jill received multiple injuries, her spine was severed at  t-12, both of her arms were broken and the metal gear for the passenger window crank gouged the side of her head and caused a massive subdural hematoma and was in a coma for 2 weeks. Sadly our daughter Sarah died in the accident at 6 weeks old.

Throughout the years Jill has not only endured the devastating loss of Sarah, and due to her injuries she was unable to attend her funeral, Jill has also had countless procedures including multiple surgeries on her arms, spine, permanent pain-pump placement and in April 2012, Jill went to bed, unable to get herself up, has been bed-ridden since.

Compounding the unbearable loss, pain and suffering, Jill had endured; on December 20th, 2017 she was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, a rare form of Leukemia that has greatly affected her both physically and mentally, leaving her unable to eat regular foods due to the loss of her teeth, loss of muscle mass and her hair; and only compounding the pain to an immeasurable scale to what she was already suffering.

In 2001, I left my job at WR Grace to stay home and take care of Jill full-time; giving up my income, pension and insurance and with the mounting debt due the astronomical costs of Jill’s medications, and private insurance with a $14,000 annual deductible and a cancer drug that costs $15,500 a month that a foundation is currently helping with, but the funding for that, I am being told, may soon run out.

In March 2018, I had an emergency appendectomy and in May 2018, I had to have another emergency surgery to take out the poison in my body that was missed. Now, two years later, March 5, 2020, I have to have a hernia repaired in the incision site from the appendectomy. With very little to no help, I am now facing more mounting medical bills, while trying to continue to take care of not only Jill, but my 11 year-old son Nicholas as well.

After many months of sleepless nights, I have decided to do what I dread whole-heartedly, and that is to ask for help. Any amount, big or small, I would greatly appreciate beyond words. This is not easy for me or my family. I cannot express how grateful I am you have taken the time to read my family’s story, and again, we would be so very grateful for any contributions.

Eternally grateful,

Grant Stoll
