Stolen Tools,Car Maintenance and Family Care
Donation protected
Hello,
Last night on March 23rd, 2025 my car got broken into even though it was parked inside my gated apartment complex and all my tools that I use for auto emergencies and maintenance were unfortunately stolen. My car is a 1996 Toyota 4Runner and is paid off. It's a family car that was passed down to me and the only vehicle I own. This past October in 2024, I had issues with my car due to it's age and I decided to invest in tools to repair it myself. I successfully did and had been completing basic maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations myself ever since.
With my tools gone, I feel as if all my efforts have been taken away and all the hard work of learning my car had been stripped from me. In addition, I use my car to drive to my parents house (180 miles) every week to take care of my elderly father who is 81 years old, and so maintaining the car that I have now is a lifeline that I was hoping to continue handling as my own responsibility. I work a full time job, have multiple side hustles, but still live paycheck to paycheck so anything helps right now.
In short, I'm hoping to recover some of the costs of my tools so I can repurchase them in order to keep maintaining my vehicle myself.
For reference, some of the tools that were stolen were socket wrenches, impact sockets, torque wrenches, breaker bars, oil filter wrenches, engine oil, a 3 ton floor jack, etc.
Thanks for any help that folks can spare.
