Hey everybody,
Sitting here writing this is possibly one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. I had to ask for help when Jack was having trouble, and you guys all helped make it possible for him to get back on his feet, literally. It’s a little different this time. My car was stolen on February 25th in front of my apartment while I was sleeping, as well as every single piece of rock climbing equipment I’ve painstakingly saved for and bought over the last 5+ years. My insurance company is refusing to cover any more than half of that, if that. If anyone knows my story, they know that when I ended up having all of my stuff stolen and vandalized, ending up homeless, without a car, with the exception of the few things...the only things I was able to fit into a closet were my clothes to go to work, my TV and my climbing gear, which literally helped me get through the hardest period of my life and build me up to the person I’ve become today. I’m not writing this necessarily out of self-pity, but because it’s the 4th time I have found my entire life upended. I hardly ever asked for any help financially when I found myself in the situations listed above, as part of the genesis of the hardships were created from mistakes I had made. And I owned them, and will always own my own mistakes. This time everything I had was stolen. I don’t expect many to chip in, all I ask is for anyone who has been through similar to understand and maybe share to anyone who could help out here. If there is any doubt to the validity of the price of items listed, I’m happy to provide proof of ownership whether it be photographs or receipts if I have them. The insurance company said they will likely cover some stuff I have receipts for but a majority of this was bought with cash, traded, etc. I’m trying hard to hang onto my dream of making it to Denali to help an 11 year old break a world record this year, but due to the circumstances, I’m slowly watching my dream slip away.
