Hello, Everyone! My name is nicole Benedetti, I am 20 years old, and on April 7th, around 4 a.m., my car was stolen.
Ever since I was a teenager, I have paid for everything by myself; phone bills, my first car, gas, car insurance, etc. On April 7th, I woke up to my mom calling me asking if I was home as I was laying in my bed. “I’m home in my bed,” I told my mom, to which my mom exclaimed, “your car isn't here!” This instilled fear and anxiety, making me have a very bad anxiety attack. How will I get to school? How will I get to work? How will I run the errands I need to run? Thoughts like these flooded my mind and still do 42 hours later. I talked to the police officer, who told me that my car, a 2000 Honda Civic, is a car that people often steal for parts and racing. I knew this, as my mom had bought me a steering wheel lock for my car, but I didn't put it on; of course, my car got stolen. In the surveillance video, the criminals knew what they were doing, as they went straight to the back of the lot where my car was, unlocked my car, started it, and drove off.
I am a 20-year-old college student, commuting 40 minutes 4 times a week to New Britain to attend college at Central Connecticut State University. How is a commuter supposed to commute to school with no car? Furthermore, on my days off and after class, I make my way back to Milford, go to my job at United Behavioral Services, and work with children diagnosed with autism.
I would greatly appreciate it if you please take the time to donate and consider my story. This is an extremely traumatic event for me to share repeatedly. However, it needs to be recognized. If you cannot donate, please take the time to share my story; it would mean the world to me!
I wish you all the best, and thank you for taking the time to read my story.
All the best,
nicole
