On the morning of Friday, July 11th, 2025, between 8:40 AM and 9:15 AM, two individuals targeted the Mecca Islamic Center in a shocking and brazen theft. Our entire air conditioning unit was stolen in broad daylight, just hours before the Friday prayer.
Surveillance footage shows two male suspects:
- One brown male, bald-headed with a beard
- One Caucasian male, short hair with a short chin strap beard
The bald suspect backed up a white Kia (license plate CVDH 025) into the plaza, and then proceeded to cut the wiring with bolt cutters before removing the entire unit.
This has left our community center in urgent need of repairs. With summer heat peaking, the lack of air conditioning makes it extremely difficult for our congregation, especially elders and children to gather comfortably and safely for prayers and community events.
We are seeking to raise $5,000 to cover the cost of replacing the stolen unit and securing the installation to prevent future incidents.
