The Stockport rugby community is coming together to support one of our own, Connor Owen, who has recently suffered life-changing injuries after being struck by a drunk driver.

Through absolutely no fault of his own, Connor has been left with severe injuries to his leg. He has already undergone multiple surgeries, with more still to come, and faces an incredibly tough and uncertain road to recovery. Returning to the game he loves, or even walking as he once did, remains in doubt.

Connor is a much-loved player and teammate, known for his passion for rugby, his sense of humour, and his commitment both on and off the pitch. Like so many of us, rugby has been at the heart of his friendships, his weekends, and his sense of belonging.

Now, Connor needs the support of the wider rugby family. He is currently unable to work, waiting on insurance, and dealing with an uncertain future. The financial pressures only add to what is already an unimaginably difficult time.

This appeal is a chance for us — as teammates, clubmates, and the wider rugby community — to come together and show what makes our sport special: solidarity, compassion, and looking after one another when it matters most.
