#StoanStrong - Fight Against Cancer Fund
Donation protected
On May 14th, 2020 my best friend Stoan Waldroup was celebrating his mother's birthday when he ended up going to the hospital with intense migraines. After an MRI was done, they found a large tumor located in his brain. On May 22, 2020 he was taken up to Duke University Hospital where he would go through a 10 hour surgery that would remove 96% of the tumor that was in his brain. He successfully made it through surgery and was allowed to come home after a few days.
He was beginning his recovery process over the next couple of weeks when the results from the surgery came back and he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Brain Cancer that had spread to his spine as well. Stoan and his parents traveled down to Houston, Texas where he would begin his next steps at MD Anderson Medical Center. He began meeting with the doctor team assigned to him on June 18, 2020 as well as going through more MRI's. The extra testing has led to the doctors to change his diagnosis to Stage 4 Brain Cancer.
He is being forced to wait to start radiation treatment until July 8, 2020 due to delays with his insurance company. He will then also begin Chemotherapy after the first rounds of radiation.
A group of Stoan's co-workers, including myself, have been trying to think of the best way that we could help Stoan in this long battle he will be taking. We are hoping that we can alleviate some of the financial burden that is being placed on him and his family so that he can focus on fighting and recovering. Even if the insurance company covers some of the medical bills that will be accumulated throughout his treatments, there are many other costs that must be accounted for as well. We hope that with some help, we can provide Stoan and his family coverage for costs including medical bills, food, lodging, and whatever else they need while Stoan goes through this treatment.
Stoan has made an impact on every person that he meets through his goofy, fun-loving personality, and his tremendous trustworthiness. He is friendly to whoever he meets and spends all of his free time with other people enjoying life. He has taken this diagnosis head on with a firm determination to get through the treatments while still enjoying the little things in life. He has done an immense amount of research on his own as well as completely changing his diet to one that will work in assistance to the radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Any bit of help or donation will be monumental and greatly appreciated by Stoan, his family, loved ones, and all of us who have been lucky enough to have Stoan in our lives. Thank you and God Bless!
