St Matthew House provides affordable housing for physically disabled people so that residents may live independently in the Columbia, Maryland community in an accessible and supportive environment. St. Matthew House is one of only a few homes in Howard country designed specifically for people with severe physical disabilities. 

 

St. Matthew House is a 501 (c) (3) organization. Funding and operations of Saint Matthew House has been stable and self-sustaining over the years. However, in the past two years Saint Matthew House has experienced several unexpected events, including 2 floods related to the sprinkler system that caused major damage to the property as well as a broken commercial water heater. In addition, Saint Matthew House incurred significant costs in insurance deductibles, the replacement of individual resident’s property and providing temporary living accommodations to our residents during the flood events. As a result, St. Matthew House is facing a major financial challenge.
