The St. Leo's Division 1 Odyssey of the Mind team placed 1st in the VA State Tournament and is now heading to the World Finals in East Lansing, Michigan.  Beyond their technical and performance achievements, this group has received many compliments from judges and event coordinators for their character, manners, and sportsmanship. They have been excellent ambassadors for St. Leo's school and community!  You may also like to know that as a team, before each competition, they have huddled and bowed their heads in prayer, and at the end, they individually thank the judges and shake their hands.  We are obviously proud of their hard work and accomplishments!  As they prepare for the next level of competition, the biggest challenge now is fundraising for travel to Michigan State University for Worlds.  Lodging and food costs for each team member is $550, so for all 7 team members, we would like to raise $3, 850. 

Odyssey of the Mind is an international, creative problem-solving competition for students from kindergarten through college. Team members choose to solve problems ranging from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.  Our team chose the vehicle problem, "Runaway Train" where they have competed at the local, state, and now World level.
