We are raising money to purchase a defibrillator for St James Parish Centre on St James Road, Denton Holme, which will be available for church and community groups, as well as residents living near to the Parish Centre.
Each year in the UK approximately 30,000 people suffer cardiac arrests. The British Heart Foundation’s figures show that only one in ten victims survive, however prompt treatment can massively increase victim’s chances of survival (as we saw when Christian Eriksen collapsed at the Euro 2021 football match). Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a victim’s survival rate by 7 to 10 per cent. Currently the two nearest defibrillators to the Parish Centre are at Robert Ferguson School and Cornerstone, a 9 minute walk from the Parish Centre.
The cost of the defibrillator and associated equipment is £2000. £500 has already been kindly pledged by Pirelli's, and we are looking for help to raise the additional £1500 required.
Whatever money you can donate would help us towards our target, and potentially help safe lives.
