Stir-Crazy Edmonton Fringe 2023

Hello! My name is Emily Lizotte, I am the creator of Groovy Gremlin Theatre, and I am producing my new play called Stir-Crazy for the 2023 Edmonton International Fringe Festival!

Stir-Crazy is a one-act psychological thriller. It follows three young women who, one after another, find themselves kidnapped and stuck in the fortified basement of a young man named Jared. Jared claims that he has kidnapped the women to keep them safe from a virus that he insists will soon become a serious threat in the outside world. Cassandra, a strong-minded cynic, finds herself clashing with Bethany, an equally strong-minded religious fanatic. The final addition to the trio, Mira, is a wide-eyed optimist who brings a fresh pair of eyes and ideas that have the power to ignite a sense of hope and sisterhood. While grappling with painful isolation and uncertainty, the women have to work through their personal and interpersonal obstacles and decide whether to attempt escape and run the risk of certain death, or stay put and hope that Jared really is well-meaning and truthful. I am eager to bring this story - which focuses on themes such as isolation, autonomy, and unity - to the stage.
