Please Help My Sister Suzanne Edwards Heal and Rebuild

At the start of this year, my sister Suzanne was preparing to open her dream music studio and begin a new chapter as a composer and teacher. Instead, her world changed overnight.

In January 2025, Suzanne began experiencing numbness, weakness, and other serious symptoms. She went to the hospital twice but was sent home both times. When our sister Karyn told me what was going on, I looked up her symptoms on ChatGPT. It warned that these could be signs of Cauda Equina Syndrome, a rare and serious condition that requires emergency treatment to prevent permanent spinal damage.

We told her to go back to the hospital right away and explain the urgency. She did. The doctors ran additional tests and rushed her into emergency spinal surgery.

Thanks to her quick action and willingness to listen, she avoided full paralysis. But the impact of the condition has still been life altering. Suzanne has lost bowel control and continues to face a long, difficult recovery. The Cauda Equina Syndrome caused complete compression of her spine; also loss of sensation to lower extremities legs, feet, and saddle anesthesia. She is learning to walk again and care for herself. She is living with pain, reduced mobility, and the emotional and financial strain that comes with such a major medical crisis. She cannot return to her job at FedEx in this condition and because she was not a full-time employee yet, she did not have benefits. She does not have the funds to support herself and has no day-to-day help.

Suzanne has always been someone who gives to others. Through her work as a teacher, composer, and performer, she has touched the lives of many. Now she needs our help.

I am launching this GoFundMe on her behalf to support her healing and give her a chance to rebuild.
