Still on Track is een documentaire die vier oudere mannen volgt die al meer dan 40 jaar bevriend zijn met elkaar. De rallysport, een hobby die de vier mannen verbindt, is door de jaren heen erg veranderd. Deze documentaire volgt hen, in hoe hun vriendschap is veranderd en gegroeid met een sport die ontzettend is veranderd. Zij zullen nog een keer, op de ouderwetse manier, deze sport beoefenen.

Wie zijn wij?

Wij zijn Storm Schat (20) en Jelmer Nengerman (21), twee jonge beginnende filmmakers van verschillende achtergronden. Storm studeert CMD aan de Hogeschool Utrecht, Jelmer studeert Journalistiek aan diezelfde hogeschool. Wij zijn samengekomen om deze documentaire te schieten. Beiden vinden we de autosport fascinerend, maar vooral deze vriendschap tussen de mannen, die toch echt bijzonder te noemen is, het meest. Wij willen graag deze documentaire werkelijkheid laten worden, en daar kunnen we jullie hulp zeer goed bij gebruiken.

Filmmaken is een dure tak van sport. Het budget dat de film benodigd gaat vooral uit naar locatie verhuur, apparatuur, sounddesign, color grading en een hoop andere werkzaamheden. Al dit is cruciaal om deze mannen op een goede manier te kunnen weergeven in deze documentaire.

Wie zijn de mannen?

Al meer dan veertig jaar delen Ted, Cees, Lucas & Herman de passie voor het rally rijden. Hoewel de sport veranderd is (en ze stiekem moeite hebben zich aan de moderne regels te houden) blijft de liefde voor de sport. Dat zie je terug in de hedendaagse ritten van de mannen waarin ze de hele wereld rondrijden. Het is voor hun niet alleen het racen maar vooral hun onbreekbare vriendschap die hen samenbrengt.

De documentaire zal juni 2025 getoond worden tijdens het CampusDoc filmfestival in het Louis Hartelooper Complex in Utrecht.

Still on Track is a documentary about four men who have been close friends for more than 40 years. The sport of rallyracing, a hobby that has connected these four men, has evolved and changed massively throughout the years. This documentary will follow them, and see how their friendship changed and evolved, together with a sport that has become vastly different than before. They will, for one final time, go practice this sport in its classic way.

Who are we?

We are Storm Schat (20) and Jelmer Nengerman (21), two young starting filmmakers who come from different backgrounds. Storm is a CMD student (Communication and Multimedia Design) at the Hogeschool Utrecht, Jelmer is a journalism student at the same institute. We came together to create this documentary. We are both fascinated by the world of motorsports, but we are especially fascinated by the friendship of these men, who after years of knowing each other, are still friends the way they were in the 1980s. We really want to make this documentary reality, and could really use your help.

Creating film is an expensive business. The budget that we require to make this documentary, is mostly spent on renting locations for shooting, equipment, sound design, colour grading and a whole lot more extra costs. Each part of this is crucial to make sure these men are portrayed right in the film.

Who are the men?

For more than fourty years have Ted, Cees, Lucas & Herman shared a passion for rally driving. Thought the sport has changed (and they often have a bit of trouble of sticking to the modern rules), the love for the sport has endured. You especially see this in their modern drives, where they drive all over the world. It has become not so much adrenaline, but their unbreakable bond as friends, that drives them together.

The documentary will premier in june 2025 at the CampusDoc Filmfestival in the Louis Hartelooper Complex in Utrecht.
