As many of you know, our brother, son, mentor, and friend, Corey, has been on a long and difficult health journey for the past few years. What started as a surprise diagnosis of an autoimmune liver disease that affected him both physically and mentally, something he's unknowingly had since he was a kid, turned into a race against time. After a long and uncertain wait, we're so incredibly grateful to share that Corey has received the gift of a new liver.
On October 4th, Corey underwent a successful transplant surgery. The road to recovery is long, and he's still in the hospital, but he's fighting every day with the same strength and spirit that has gotten him this far. We are so thankful for the donor and their family, who, in a time of immense grief, made a decision that saved Corey's life. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
We've been overwhelmed by the number of people who have reached out and asked how they can help. It's a true testament to the number of lives Corey has touched. In response to this outpouring of love, and at the request of Corey, we've set up this GoFundMe. The coming months will be critical for his recovery. A major part of this next phase is the requirement for 24/7 care, a complete change of diet, physical therapy, resting, and adjustment to his new reality for at least 3 months. Corey, being the workaholic we all know and love, is fortunate enough to be able to work remotely as his health permits, but this journey requires a village. Any funds will help ease the financial burden of this new reality by helping with any unforeseen medical costs, groceries, living expenses, and other related costs for both Corey and his dedicated team of caregivers during the healing journey.
Please know that your prayers, well wishes, and positive thoughts are more than enough. There is absolutely no obligation to contribute financially or otherwise. This is simply a way for those who have expressed a desire to help to do so. Thank you to all the friends and family who make up the community of support that has stood behind him and continues to selflessly help him through this process.
