Taron’s Story
The cancer not only took a toll on me physically but it’s taking a toll on my finances as well. I have mounting medical bills that I will be paying on forever. I had to stop working in 2013, so I have limited income coming in.
“I’m still going through it after 18 years”
I was diagnosed with a rare form of colon cancer in 2005. It was stage 3 anal carcinoma. I was 35 years old. I had chemotherapy and 30 radiation treatments. They told my family that I was not going to make it.
And here I am. It’s been really tough. I’ve had numerous surgeries, developed diabetes and severe nerve damage in my legs. I deal with chronic pain everyday as a result of the nerve damage. I have problems walking and I’m constantly falling. During the past 3 years I’ve been dealing with chronic UTI’s. I had 16 in 2020 year and 9 in 2021. I’m unable to release my bladder completely and because of that I have fluid backing up in my kidneys. I have to have a catheter and foley bag right now. I found out in August of 2021 that I’m having issues with my kidneys and eventually I will go into renal failure. I had 3 surgeries this past December 2022 to have a super pubic tube inserted in my stomach. I can urinate on my own because of the UTI infections. All of this is a result of the radiation treatments I received 18 years ago. It’s just been nonstop issues. I had an MRI 3 weeks ago and found out that I have 2 slipped disks on my spine that’s pressing on my nerves. This is causing pain in my back and hips and could be the reason for my falling. I’m in the process of seeing a neurologist.
Despite every effort, I am unable to afford the expenses of mounting medical bills.
I’m still fighting because I refuse to give up on myself.
So, I would be so grateful for your help.
Thanks so much for considering my request and please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
