Help Us Secure a Safe Home for Our Family

We are facing an urgent crisis, our family has been living with mold for the last 3 months and we have exhausted all options and have no other choice but to vacate the apartment. It’s not safe for us to be here.

If we don’t meet this goal, we will lose the chance to keep our family together. Please, if you can help, we would be forever grateful.

Our Story

When we moved into our apartment in December 2024, we had no idea we were walking into a health hazard. The musty, earthy smells were concerning, but we tried to ignore them. Within two weeks, our entire family got sick. What we thought was a seasonal illness never truly went away. We’ve been battling constant sinus pressure, congestion, dizziness, headaches, stomach issues, skin irritation, and severe fatigue. Worst of all, our four-year-old daughter, Cati, has been affected the most.

After multiple doctor visits and a recent hospital stay, we learned that she is struggling with ongoing GI issues, UTIs, and respiratory problems. She is congested almost every day and has trouble sleeping. I, too, have developed severe symptoms, including unbearable headaches and dizziness. My bloodwork showed that my body is having an allergic reaction—likely to mold.

After deep cleaning our apartment, I found mold growing in our carpet and multiple signs of water damage. The management refuses to acknowledge the issue and continuously paints over problem areas instead of addressing them. We have been working hard to make ends meet and we spent all our hard earned money and savings to get this apartment. We can’t get out of our lease and recover our deposit and insurance will not cover mold in Texas.

We cannot keep living in this toxic environment, especially for Cati’s health. If we cannot secure this home our family will have to be separated in different living arrangements where Cati will not have her own room, her own bed or all her toys to play with. I’ll have to take her in a different crowded living condition and be separated from my husband so he can work.

Why We Need Help

We have exhausted every resource. I have applied for government assistance, but it’s not enough and won’t fund us in time.

We reached out to local church charities, but they do not have the funds to help or aren’t assisting anyone at this time.

My husband just started a new job that will provide stability, but we need immediate help to secure a safe home before it’s too late.

We have found a landlord willing to work with our situation, but we need to cover the deposit and moving costs. We’ve spent every last penny on Cati’s medical care, and she is finally making progress. We just want to give her a stable, healthy home where she can continue to heal and thrive.

What Your Donation Will Help With

Securing the home and keeping up with rent so we can pay our utilities and keep us out of debt. We will be continuing treatment for our daughter so we can detox her body from mold exposure.

If we could take out a loan, we would. But we have no other options. We are doing everything in our power to fight for our family’s well-being, but time is running out. Please, if you can donate, share, or spread the word, you could be the reason we get the fresh start we so desperately need.
