Hi everyone. My name is Jenn, and I am writing about a family near and dear to my heart, the Stibbards.
About a year ago, Terry suffered a stroke that left him with some deficits. Although rehab wasn’t an option due to insurance issues, Stace and the kids worked hard and helped rehab him at home. And, in true Terry style, he managed not to miss work and continue to provide for his family. ❤️
They sold their house, moved to the city in Maine and loving the new life they were creating after several years of tough times. Stace was even able to go back to work at a dentist office and, as she puts it, “love all over people.”
Terry had been working hard to regain his mobility to his fullest ability and was doing great. He was walking and using a scooter for long distances but was managing to stay positive (no surprise there) and continued to improve each day.
However, he started having back pain and was treating with a chiropractor and massage. Even needling, but the pain continued and worsened. He ended up going to urgent care, which directed him to the ER. From there, he saw an oncologist and was told he has Stage 4 prostate cancer that had metastasized to his spine -which is why his back hurt so bad- his abdomen, his lungs, and more.
He was admitted to the hospital around Labor Day. Since then, it has been a roller coaster. Good days and bad. He started to lose feeling in his leg and became paralyzed from the waist down. He got hospital acquired COVID, UTI from his Foley catheter, severe constipation due to pain meds and paralysis, and swallowing difficulties. And through this roller coaster, he has been in isolation and unable to see Stace and the kids much.
This family is one of the most God-loving, love all over you, positive, happy, rooting for all of us to have our dreams come true, giving, faithful, generous, kind, give you the shirt off their back kind of people. Stranger is not in their vocabulary; they genuinely love everyone! To know them is an honor, but to be related to them is like bragging rights! So I brag! I can personally say they have been a true blessing to me in my walk through life. ❤️
With Terry being a contractor, they have lost his pay; on top of everything they are going through. So, if you can help, please do. But most importantly, and their biggest wish, is that we pray, send good juju, whatever it is you prefer. They just love the positive thoughts. Send Terry a message. Send Stace a message. Any love and support is much welcomed! (Stace is working and a little overwhelmed with everything, so she may not respond right away.)
I will do my best to keep you up to date as I get info. Feel free to reach out to me if you have questions. Love you all!
