St. Helena “Standard of Excellence” Marching Band
Dear Generous Donor:
I’m Mr. Chesteron Frye, Director of Bands for the St. Helena College & Career Academy Marching Band. I am asking you for your support to support our travel to Normandy, France. The St. Helena Marching Band has been invited to perform in the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings and the Liberation of Europe parade. This will be great exposure for our students, community, and the State of Louisiana. Our band works hard to develop musicianship and professionalism, and this is a great opportunity to display that in an international public forum.
The St. Helena Marching Band consists of students from grades 3rd-12th. The band has a membership of 60 students including a fascinating dance ensemble and color guard. Our band program has a 100% graduation rate with each senior receiving a music scholarship to the University of their choice. We have performed at various events including New Orleans Pelicans basketball games, high school football games, collegiate homecoming parades, Mardi Gras parades, MLK parades, MLK battle of the bands, Tyler Perry Studios, The Steve Harvey Show, CNN, NBC Nightly News, winter, and spring music concerts.
The purpose of the St. Helena Band Program is to enhance the musical abilities of the students as well as giving beginners a strong musical foundation by teaching them the basics and fundamentals of music. During the year, we like to form a special bond with all our students so that music will be their outlet. We also like to give the students memories that will last for a lifetime. While in France we will visit the D-Day 360 Museum, Utah Beach, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Champs Elysees, and many more historic sites.
We are seeking financial donations to make this trip possible for our learners. I ensure you that all proceeds will go to the band trip and will be used strictly for the students in the band. Your donation will be recognized in our program at our performances throughout the year. We hope to make our partnership last with you beyond this year as well.
