**If you are donating on a student's behalf, please be sure to write their name in the comment - otherwise we will not know who to apply the donation to.
The Saint Gerard's Outreach Program is affiliated with the Youth Ministry organization with Saint Gerard Majella Church in Canton, Massachusetts. Our program is made up of seventy to eighty high school students, and ten to fifteen college aged and adult volunteer advisors. We travel to various locations in the United States to spend a week doing service for that community.
The first Outreach trip was to Olive Hill, Kentucky in 1995. On that trip, we built a house that is still standing today. Since then, we have traveled to Philadelphia, New Orleans, Mississippi, Peru, New York, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
Currently we offer four trips & introducing a new trip this year as well:
- Olive Hill, Kentucky (Appalachia): a Habitat for Humanity-type trip which includes construction in rural Kentucky
- Philadelphia: Soup Kitchen in inner city Philadelphia working among the homeless
- Disaster Relief: Construction trip to any place in the US that is recovering from a disaster
- Outward Bound: Combination of service in the local community and hiking Mount Washington
- South Dakota: Brand new trip in 2015 that will travel to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation
