Hello everyone! This past year away from baseball I have slowly felt this huge hole in my heart. I have a tremendous job however, not having the stage to minister to athletes and help them grow in their walk with Christ has been saddening.  I recently got involved at an indoor facility near my house by the name of Steward Sports. The owner Matt Brown, is a former player from Wichita State and former major league baseball player.  I quickly learned that Matt's greatest goal is to reach out and minister to kids to help them become closer in their walk with Christ. In the past 6 months I have had the opportunity to help Matt with a gift giving program through the Holidays and I meet him with him on 2 Sundays per month when he opens his doors to a 2 hour program called "Bibles and Baseball." In this program we offer basic instruction for young men and women in softball and baseball while most of the camp is dedicated to helping athletes understand a few selected verses from the Bible. It is free and the results have been AWESOME!

Matt and I have met and he has a smaller area on his property that he has been working on that is almost in playing condition for younger aged athletes 12 and under. We see this as a tremendous opportunity to open another avenue to minister to these kids! We have discussed having Christian based weekend tournaments for tee-ball and machine pitch teams and also have baseball/softball camps geared around an athletes walk with Christ. Steward Sport’s future goal is to build 2-3 teams each summer that are designed to compete for 8 weeks. During the eight weeks of the summer, our players will receive Bible study training to help them learn spiritual disciplines in their lives as they prepare to go face the challenges that school and the world are going to throw at them. As much as we will challenge them on the baseball field, we also will challenge them spiritually throughout the summer. We will give them plenty of opportunities to share their faith with others and to use the game of baseball as tool that God has given them to build a bridge to someone’s heart.

To get our field where it is playable we need 3 basic items. A portable temporary fence which has been priced at 800, materials for us to make benches for the dugout area  which totals 300 and materials for a backstop area and daily upkeep such as top soil, clay, chalk and a backpack sprayer which will total the remainder of the 3000. This is exciting time for all of us at Stewards Sports, I pray you all can help with anything possible. God Bless!!
