Hello. My name is Ann Holloway. I am a co-worker with Daniel Stevinson, but more importantly, I am also a friend that has become family.
Daniel and his son along with family and friends that have become family were enjoying a weekend of riding their dirt bikes and side by sides in the Mojave Desert.
On the morning of Sunday, February 19 Grant was riding his dirt bike up a hill. One that he had been riding on many times. He had a crash and this crash would be life-changing. Grant suffered a broken back and a severed spinal cord.
Thankfully they were not too far from camp and were able to get emergency service within minutes. Grant was life-flighted to Lancaster, Ca where he has been since. They were able to perform back surgery the next morning. They fused his spine back but the spinal cord can not. Therefore, Grant will be in a wheelchair for life.
Grant's mom, Wendy, was able to get down there Sunday afternoon and be by his side. Fortunately, both parents have been able to be there with him.
As of today Sunday, February 26, they are still in Lancaster. They are hopeful that by midweek Grant will be stable enough to transport him closer to home. Grant has a very positive outlook. And is doing what he has to so he can get closer to home.
I am doing this fundraiser to help the family get through this time. There are going to be so many things that will need to be done to make their homes wheelchair accessible. Along with the many things they have not even thought of. Along with the help with day-to-day costs. The medical bills so far have been taken care of by insurance. But there has been hotel, food, fuel and the few things that Grant has been asking for.
My goal is to help take care of the family so they can focus on taking care of Grant. In these times we all feel helpless and want to help. Whether it is a monetary donation, prayer, or another type of contribution to the Stevinson family I know that they would be grateful!
