Stevie Jo, Pinky and Pepper need a safe home in Australia

UPDATE - Stevie Jo is back home and safe now. Pinky and Pepper are in new homes, safe and loved!

Thank you to all of our dear friends and acquaintances who have contributed generously to this fund. You made it happen, and it's been the happiest of stories. Starting with a hug and a 'welcome home' from Customs in Australia through to ... well I'll let Stevie Jo share the rest. For those who are still contributing, every little bit is helping. Your funds are helping Stevie Jo set herself up here - bond, car, Aussie passport etc.

I’m not gonna beat around the bush, my dear friend of 39 years, Stevie Jo urgently needs OUT of America due to increasing Trans-centred violence and anti-Trans legislation. Originally from Australia, she is now forced to leave the US while it’s still safe for her to do so and before new laws are passed. She is not without fear and sadness about this, but looking forward to continuing to be her amazing self back home with people who love and miss her.

A few of us, including myself, are already working to support her as she transitions back to Oz, helping her settle and start fresh in this new chapter of her life. There are many moving parts including the safe travel and then quarantining of Pinky and Pepper, her two elderly Chihuahuas. A significant chunk of the funds we are raising are for Pinky and Pepper to come to Australia. They are her remaining American family, the fur kids she shared with her partner Jonathan, who died of cancer seven years ago.

Donated funds also go towards Stevie Jo's travel, and helping her set herself up in a pet-friendly apartment in South East Queensland, Australia.
