I am a 33 year old Electrical and Computer Engineer. I'm a dad to a sweet, smart, hilarious 4 year old. I love watching Blues hockey and the Cardinals. I have been blessed with the best family and friends that a person could ask for, and my girlfriend isn't too bad either.
And in February 2015, I was given 2-5 years to live. I was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS. It has been, and will continue to be, quite the ride. I have lost most of the use of my hands and arms. My forced vital capacity (lung capacity) has decreased to approximately 33%, and my core and legs are weakening noticeably. My life has taken a 180 degree turn. I now have a tiny window to squeeze in all of the fullfillment, accomplishment, and joy that we all expect out of our lifetimes.
It's impossible to understand just how extreme the financial burden can be on those with severe medical expenses without personally experiencing it. I need to find a way to maintain care for myself, my son, and still enjoy the time I have. The goal I have set here will assist me in funding the major requirements to maintain my quality of life at home. I can't express how grateful I am for any support you may be able to provide.
