Perhaps you don't know Steve. Those that do, know that anyone that meets him, loves him instantly. His mother, Laurie, certainly loves her son beyond life. That is evident in her voice when she talks about him.
Steve recently told his mom that he had prayed to God to bring him home before her, because he didn't know how he would survive without her with him. No one could have anticipated that God's answer would come so soon.
Steve has always been strong, always turned a 'deaf ear' to pain. Until his family and friends encouraged him to go see a doctor about the pain in his shoulder. It was just months ago that he did just that. After several doctors and tests, they found the cause of the pain. Several tumors were found, in multiple locations. Steve spent a month in the hospital, until arrangements were made for him to be at home, with hospice care, last week.
Laurie hasn't left home since the day he arrived. She plans to spend every possible minute with Steve, and he with her. She has been by his side, as friends and family have come to visit. She has listened to him ask several friends to be pall bearers at his funeral. A funeral she knows she cannot afford. And, certainly one she never thought she'd have to plan.
We're setting up this GoFundMe account to help Laurie, and Steve, with the arrangements that they know they have to make. To ease a little bit of stress in this unimaginable situation. To help with the costs of the most difficult day any mother has to plan for her child. A day a mother should never have to plan. Her child's funeral.
Please help us in this goal. The amount does not matter, every small amount will help. Every prayer, every thought, every kind word will go a long way in honoring this mother's love for her son, and honoring his wishes for his funeral.
Thank you for taking your time to read Laurie and Steve's story. Knowing it has certainly touched my heart.
