In Dona Ana County NM there is a real live situation going on as you read this article.  The family and close friends are in dire need of your help to seek and find out the truth of what happened to their dear beloved son, brother, best friend, neighbor and loving father of two small children.  He was only 46 years old and a true family man. Father of 2 awesome kiddos age 6 and 13.  He loved taking them fishing, boating, hiking, horseback riding, four-wheeling or just cook brisket out on his awesome homemade smoker and have friends and family over for a great time while the kids played in the pool.  He loved helping a friend or neighbor in need with any project including helping or lending his flatbed trailer out to a friend in need of firewood for the winter to stay warm. He had a warm and generous heart and smile that would capture your attention when he looked at you with his crystal blue eyes.  Yes Steve Smelser was a true blue New Mexico cowboy with a true gentlemen way of treating you. He could take you out country dancing and have a great time and be up at 6 am ready to put in a full days work of building fence, a kennel, an apartment or even a hospital. Yes that’s right he built all of these and was helping with the final plans and building of the new state of the art Medical school that recently opened at NMSU called the Burrell College.  He put his positive touch into the community in many ways.

When Steve showed up dead out of the blue many questions have come up.  What happened? Who was responsible?  All these and many irregularities in evidence regarding his death have been ignored by local sheriffs office investigators. One thing that is clear nothing adds up. The family has hired outside experts to find the truth so they can finally have resolve in what happened.  The two beautiful kids have been robbed of their loving father who adored them and was there number one cheerleader. Meanwhile the estranged wife plans her new life with her beau she found while still married.  The pursuit for the truth has a price tag on it.  We need your help in continuing on this road to truth.

Besides the tragic loss of our beloved brother, son and friend the children are being kept from their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.  The family has been working diligently with attorneys to ensure that the children do in fact get the opportunity to spend time with a large loving family of grandparents, aunts, uncles and their cousins.

Since April 2016 the family has been working with experts and have uncovered over 40 inconsistencies regarding the evidence found surrounding Steve’s death.
