Steve’s, Numbers Fire Recovery Fund
On July 6th, the Numbers Fire started to burn across the southeast end of Gardnerville. The fire quickly grew into a massive blaze prompting many evacuations including residents of near by Pine Nuts, my father being one of them. As the flames drew closer to his property he was forced to evacuate at night as he saw the flames coming closer and the smoke was ever increasing making it difficult to navigate his way out. He was unable to grab anything and left with just the clothes on his back. It was a very rough few days of uncertainty not knowing if anything would be left. On Friday the 10th he was finally able to get back up to his property and got confirmation that everything had been destroyed. My father is retired and at an age where the possibility of rebuilding is not an option. This situation hits hard for my wife and I because we also lost our home to the devastating Angora Fire 13 years ago. We know first hand the emotional and physical roller coaster this situation creates. The aftermath of the fire, cleaning up the debris, is more than half the battle. Especially in the remote area of the Pine Nut Mountains where he resided. This Go-Fund Me that we are starting is to help with removal of the debris from his property and to get him back on his feet. Everything that he worked so hard for has been lost. Leaving him displaced, with a long road of uncertainty ahead.
